What is Yemeni Sidr honey?

Sidr honey is made from nectar collected from the blossoms of the Sidr tree. Yemeni Sidr is especially associated with regions such as Hadramout, where the honey is known for its provenance, deep flavour and distinctive aroma.

What makes Hadramout Sidr honey distinctive?

Origin is one of the most useful ways to compare Sidr honey. Hadramout is one of Yemen's best-known honey-producing regions, and its Sidr honey is valued for its strong regional identity, floral source and characteristic flavour profile. Natural differences can occur between harvests, so colour, thickness and aroma may vary.

How to compare Sidr honey

If you are comparing Yemeni Sidr honey, look for clearly stated origin, floral source, aroma, texture, flavour and transparent seller information. “Sidr” describes the floral source, while the exact character of the honey can vary according to region, season and harvest.

How to choose authentic Yemeni Sidr honey

When buying Sidr honey in the UK, favour sellers that clearly state the country and region of origin and provide straightforward product information. Avoid judging authenticity from colour or thickness alone, because natural honey varies. Provenance, traceability and consistent product information are more useful buying signals.

How to enjoy

Enjoy by the spoon, drizzle over yoghurt or porridge, pair with fruit and cheese, or stir into a warm drink. Avoid adding honey to boiling liquids if you want to preserve its natural flavour and aroma.
