What is Sainfoin honey?

Sainfoin is a flowering forage plant found across parts of Central Asia. In the mountain landscapes where this honey is produced, bees can forage across sainfoin alongside alfalfa, sweet clover and other local flowers. The result is a distinctive polyfloral honey with a naturally pale appearance, creamy texture and gentle floral sweetness.

Why is this Kyrgyz honey white and creamy?

Honey naturally varies in colour and texture according to its floral sources and the way its natural sugars crystallise. This Kyrgyz white honey develops its characteristic pale, creamy appearance naturally. Crystallisation or changes in texture over time are normal characteristics of honey and do not mean the product has spoiled.

High-altitude honey from Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan's mountain valleys provide a distinctive environment for honey production. Bees forage across flowering sainfoin, alfalfa, sweet clover and other local flora, creating the floral profile behind this Great Taste 3-Star honey.

How to choose quality Sainfoin and white honey

When comparing Sainfoin honey, look for clear information about origin, floral sources and ingredients rather than relying on colour alone. Natural honey can vary between harvests, and pale or crystallised honey is not automatically a sign of processing or poor quality. Store honey sealed at room temperature away from direct sunlight.

How to enjoy

Enjoy by the spoon, spread on toast, pair with fruit or cheese, drizzle over yoghurt and porridge, or stir into a warm drink. Its mild sweetness and creamy texture also make it an easy alternative to stronger-tasting honeys in everyday food.
